At an early age, Frankie Addison demonstrated his commitment to excellence in music while at Terrell Jr. High then later at Shaw Jr. High School, as he performed and traveled with the marching band, jazz ensemble, and concert band. However, it was at the Duke Ellington School for the Performing Arts where he released his creative talents as a musician, and classical and jazz saxophonist.

Frankie formed his own jazz group, "Front Line Jazz Ensemble”, at the age of 17. Under his direction, the “Ensemble” performed as the opening act for well-known artists such as Nancy Wilson, Stanley Turrentine and Betty Carter, as well as appearing on the “Oprah Winfrey Show.”

In addition, Frankie was selected as a member of the Blues Alley Youth Orchestra and subsequently moved on to the Blues Alley Big Band.  He has personally been privileged to play alongside artist such as Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Branford and Ellis Marsalis, Stevie Wonder, Angela Bofill, Angela Winbush, Isaac Hayes and Norman Connors, to name a few.  He has also been honored to perform at the Inaugural Ball of President Bill Clinton, as well as the Inaugural Ball of former President, George Bush. One of his most notable and honorable performances was having the opportunity to provide for Nelson Mandela during his first visit to the United States upon his release from prison.
